Parish History

History and other events leading to the formation of our parish.

1954- Father E. Jastalski, travels from Sudbury once a month to perform masses at St. Veronica's Parish, for the Polish people.

Aug. 4, 1955- Father S.T. Robert arrives in Sault Ste. Marie. Regular Sunday services commence in the basement of St.Ignatius Parish.

June 1956- Building Campain Fund begins.

Aug. 1958- Land for the church and rectory are purchased from the city.

March 14, 1960- Plans for the church are approved by the Bishop, permission is granted for construction to begin.

June 16, 1960- Benediction of the church grounds and sod turning ceremony takes place.

June 17, 1960- Excavation and construction begin.

July 30, 1961- First mass is held in the new church.

Sept. 16,1962- Benediction 0f the church and laying of the cornerstone by the Rt. Msgr. Crowley, P.A., V.G.
